Revelation 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me. It’s very interesting to point out here that out of 7 of the Churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation, The Church of the Laodiceans is the only Church you see Jesus standing outside the door knocking desiring to come in but seeking permission to do so. The assessment here is that the Holy Spirit will not force his way into a Church, a heart or a home where he is not welcomed, But if we open the door and allow him and have his way, he will make his resting place where he is embraced. It’s also interesting to note here that this particular Church is also called the “Luke-Warm” church that had an attitude of ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’. I believe that this is where we are in this current day and age with the Modern Church. Not only are we seeing “Luke Warm” Churches across the Nation but you will also discover that many of these same Churches possess an abundance of everything but the moving of the Holy Spirit and the Power of God.

hey possess top-notch sound systems, fog machines, and stage presentation, They possess the best programs, sports teams, and the largest and most beautiful buildings but many inside are nothing more than “whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness” all because they have learned to have Church without the Holy Spirit and have learned to operate in routine and ritual rather than in power and presence. The sad commentary here is that we can possess all the right things and be doing all the wrong things. There is nothing wrong with having a nice building and wonderful programs for families, There is nothing wrong with having a stunning stage presentation, lights, fog machines, and the greatest sound system as long as we have an “open door policy” for the Lord to come in and sup with us, meaning he would ultimately be calling the shots not some leader or pastor, but instead they would simply be a vessel that would yield to his direction to bless and transform the lives of the people.

The same warning the Lord gave the Church of Laodicea is the same warning he is giving us today! They had it all but the Lord told them “You do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked”.  He went on to say “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.” It’s time for us to do a self-examination and get back to this thing being all about “Jesus”! How will you respond when he begins knocking on your door? Will you let him in and have his way or will you ignore the knocking and continue having Church as usual?
